NFPA 2113 Standard on Selection, Care, Use, and Maintenance of Flame-Resistant Garments for Protection of Industrial Personnel Against Flash Fire

1.1 Scope.
1.1.1* This standard shall specify the minimum selection, care, use, and maintenance requirements for flame-resistant garments for use in areas at risk from flash fires by industrial personnel that are compliant with NFPA 2112, Standard on Flame-Resistant Garments for Protection of Industrial Personnel Against Flash Fire.
1.1.2* This standard shall not apply to protective clothing for wildland fire fighting, technical rescue, structural fire fighting, proximity fire fighting, or any other fire-fighting operations, or hazardous materials emergencies.
1.1.3 This standard shall not apply to protection from electrical flashes, radiological agents, biological agents, or hazardous materials.

Changes to the 2012 NFPA 2113 Standard on Selection, Care, Use, and Maintenance of Flame-Resistant Garments for Protection of Industrial Personnel Against Flash Fire include
· Scope and sections pertaining to the workplace hazard assessment have been modified to reflect that flame-resistant garments for industrial personnel can protect against other types of short-duration flame exposure.
· Additional Annex text was created to describe other types and possible sources of short-duration flame exposure.
· Definitions were updated to be consistent with the 2012 NFPA 2112 and the NFPA® Glossary of Terms.
This widely used Standard is essential for any company or facility that handles or processes flammable gas, flammable or combustible liquids, or combustible dust that may accumulate and/or deflagrate, exposing personnel to flash fire or short-duration flame exposure. (Softbound, 19 pp., 2012)
